Milky Way over Granite Mtn, AZ
This long exposure Milky Way image captures the galactic core as it passes by the 7600 ft Granite Mountain Peak in Northern Arizona near Prescott. The long exposure time on the milky way frames make for an extensive starfield. The image looks beautiful in many mediums, but canvas partners uniquely well with the vast starfield.

Crescent Over June Mountain, Sierra Nevada
The Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains in California can offer up stunningly dark skies, but the seams between sunshine and utter darkness also offer some exceptionally beautiful scenes, like this one - the Crescent Moon stands watch over a changing of the gaurd between night and day. June Lake in Mono County. See my blog for more images over June Mountain.
ABOUT BORTLE X ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY
“The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff.”
― Carl Sagan, Cosmos
I am an astrophotographer who got my start in some of the most light polluted skies on the planet. It seemed that Bortle 9 (the highest on the scale of light pollution) was just not enough to describe the adventure, hence "Bortle X." A large portion of my astrophotography is performed right in the heart of the South Bay region of Los Angeles County in Southern California. Like many, I have always had a love of space, science and the stars, but it is only in recent years when my eyes opened to just how much we can see from our little blue dot, with modern mounts, telescopes, and some filters. These wonders are not limited to those with access to billion dollar space telescopes (although I love those too). The images here are original - all photons were captured by my equipment and post-processed by me. The world renound Bayphoto Lab provides the prints when ordered from this site. If you have any questions, or special requests, don't hesitate to contact me. Please enjoy the intersection of a millennia of technology development in photography, optical engineering, computers, image processing, and photographic printing. Producing these images has been a labor of love.
